Why Should I Pray?

After pondering the perfect sovereignty of God, many have asked the question “Why should I even bother praying then? If God is always going to do His will, and His will is always perfect, then why should we ever pray? The Christian’s most powerful resource is communion with God through prayer. The results are often greater than we thought were possible. Prayer should always comes first, not as a last result, because God’s power is always infinitely greater than ours. Have a wonderful day in His presence. Love you all in Christ.

“The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective” ~ James 5:16

The answer, it is important to recognize, comes from the same God Who tells us that He “works all things after the counsel of His own will.” This very same God informs us that effectual, fervent prayer on the part of His people avails — not just a little bit, or for a little while, but much!

How can this be? How can an immutable, all-knowing, eternal God listen to our prayers and allow them to influence the outcome of events great and small? Frankly, we may never know or understand. But this we do know: God tells us that our prayers make a tremendous impact.

So then, how should you respond to temptation or trial? Pray. What should you do on behalf of sick, or wayward, or feeble loved ones? Pray. What is your responsibility toward those that have authority over you? Pray for them. How can you make a difference in the world around you? Pray!

Let me encourage you to take God up on His word. I can attest to the incredible power of prayer as I have witnessed God’s unmerited favor in my walk with Him. Not because I deserve it; but simply because I went before His throne and keep, asking, seeking, and knocking (Matthew 7:7). I come to tell you that God still answers prayer; that there is power in prayer. Just be diligent; consistent and have faith.

Weathering the Storms of Life!

Do you know that every problem and troubling situation believers face in this life is allowed by God for a specific purpose. He is working out something far greater than what appears to be happening as He guides the process of transforming you into the image of Christ. Your faith is being sharpened as a sword to equip you for the battles of this world. The path of victory has already been set and there is nothing that can destroy a believer who has put his faith in the cross of Jesus. We are commanded to be anxious for nothing and no one. But, is that still possible when the darkness of the storm surrounds us? Yes God can deliver us from the storms of life or take us through them, giving us the strength and courage we need. Do you find yourself in a storm today? Ask God for the strength and courage to weather it and for the wisdom to understand it, not waste it.

Image

“He calmed the storm to a whisper and stilled the waves. What a blessing was that stillness as he brought them safely into harbor! Psalm 107:29-30

The truth is that the strength to endure every painful trial is with you in Christ. You may be feeling weary and completely overwhelmed but the bible tells us that God is close to the broken-hearted and he is near to us in our pain. He does not abandon you when your situation is bleak. As you lift up your fears to him in thankfulness and prayer, you allow his power to be unleashed in your life as he takes your struggle and makes it work into his perfect plan for you. God knows your weaknesses and has seen your failures yet his power is more than enough to take you safely through. You may be wounded but you will never be destroyed!

Take heart my friends and know without a doubt the struggles and trials you suffer are always an opportunity for God to reveal his power to you. It is being worked out in the timing of God who already knows the outcome. Each time a painful situation brings you to your knees, use that position to give glory to God! It frustrates the devil when you do. Never let the enemy convince you to surrender in the heat of battle for you are nowhere near being defeated. You have been made more than a conqueror through Christ and he is not about to let you fail.

The Power of Prayer!

Jesus made this promise in our passage below. Never underestimate the power of prayer. When you are praying according to God’s will, your prayer is unstoppable. We gravitate immediately toward the latter part of that verse: Ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. We love that, as though God were some sort of genie. But that isn’t the case. We tend to forget about the first part of this verse: If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you . . . If we are walking in fellowship with God and studying the Word of God, then we will start praying according to the will of God. And then we will start seeing our prayers answered. Have a wonderful day abiding in the Lord.

“If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you” ~~ John 15:7.

I don’t know what your story is; I don’t know all that you’re going through but I want to encourage you today and let you know that there is power in prayer.  God doesn’t want you to worry about today or tomorrow; instead He wants you to pray about everything and to make your request known to Him.

Don’t give up if you don’t get what you are praying for immediately and don’t allow the devil to play with your mind neither.  As a God that’s all knowing, you have to trust and know that God answers prayer in His perfect timing.

However, until you see your prayer manifest, continue to believe, have faith and to thank God in advance for answering your prayer. That is why Jesus said, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you” (Matthew 7:7) Remember, seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and everything else will be added unto you.  Don’t lose hope or give up child of God, there is power in prayer.

Pray about everything! No prayer is too large or small for OUR GOD!

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

God is telling us not to freak out about anything. Anything! Can you think of anything that does not fit into this category? Instead of worrying—pray—about everything!

What God is promising in these verses is this: If, when you are confronted with difficult things, you will pray rather than worry, God will give you peace. The stress will lift. The pressure will be broken.

Perhaps you are so filled with anxiety and stress that you are working on an ulcer right now. You don’t sleep like you should. Your anxieties have robbed you of the quality of life God wants you to have. God wants you free from your burdens. Take them to Him today, and every day, and see how those burdens are lifted.

Prayers are Powerful and Effective if Prayed from the Position of a Righteous Heart!

The reality is, our prayers don’t change God. But I am convinced prayer changes us, and it brings us into authentic connection with God. Prayer opens our spiritual eyes to see things we can’t see on our own. And I’m convinced prayer matters. Prayers are powerful and effective if prayed from the position of a righteous heart (James 5:16). I don’t know what your story is; I don’t know all that you’re going through but I want to encourage you today and let you know that there is power in prayer. God doesn’t want you to worry about today or tomorrow; instead He wants you to pray about everything and to make your request known to Him.

Let me encourage you to take God up on His word. I can attest to the incredible power of prayer as I have witnessed God’s unmerited favor in my walk with Him. Not because I deserve it; but simply because I went before His throne and keep, asking, seeking, and knocking(Matthew 7:7). I come to tell you that God still answers prayer; that there is power in prayer. Just be diligent; consistent and have faith.

However, until you see your prayer manifest, continue to believe, have faith and to thank God in advance for answering your prayer. Remember, seek  first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and everything else will be added unto you.(Matthew 6:33) Don’t lose hope child of God, there is power in prayer.

“Be Joyful in Hope, Patient in Affliction, Faithful, in Prayer”

No matter what our situation is, we can pray with joy because of our hope in Christ no matter what our current situation is. We can remain patient, persevering through affliction, by presenting our requests and intercessions to God with thanksgiving. Prayer is God’s gift to us so that we can be patient and joyful, even when things don’t appear to be going well. Have a wonderful day being joyful in hope, patient in affliction, and faithful in prayer.

Image

“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful, in prayer” ~~ Romans 12:12.

Hope means to believe, desire or trust. Anxiety and worry stifle hope. Some days it’s hard to hope. Oftentimes we hardly dare hope because we might be disappointed, but to be joyful in hope? If God is our hope then hope is well founded. Instead of nail biting hope, we can choose instead, to be joyful, in hope.

Patient means long-suffering; quietly and steadily persevering. Do you ever feel like the most impatient person on the planet? Some days I do.  God doesn’t take afflictions from us. They’re common to us all. He has promised to never leave us nor forsake us. Through the presence of His Holy Spirit he dwells within us, casting out fear, helping us to move deeper into the waters of uncertainty knowing that as we strive for patience he will guide us through the times of waiting.

Faithful means constant; reliable. Prayer is the key to joyful hope. Prayer is the key to patience in trials. Prayer brings us into the very presence of the Almighty God, the creator of all things, the ruler of all. He draws close to listen to you this day.

Prayer

Father, we acknowledge that anxiety is not simply a worrisome little habit but rather, it is a sin . . . a repeated sin. Worry compromises our fellowship with You and with others. We thank You that the death of Your Son, Jesus, provided the payment in full for our sins, including the sin of worry. We trust Him to take care of our worries, just as the psalmist said, “Cast your burden upon the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken.”

We pray that You will quiet our hearts. As You do, please lead us to a quiet and sure confidence in Yourself. Take the things that we needlessly fuss over—those worries that have burdened us long enough—and erase them from our minds. Please teach us to focus on You instead—to sit at Your feet in quietness. And as we cast the heavy weight of anxiety on You, we will trust You to give us instead a peace that surpasses understanding and a confidence that You are at work—even though we remain in the same circumstances. Thank You ahead of time for how You will deal with the burdens that weigh heavily on our hearts. Thank You for how You will relieve the anxieties that cause us to miss the important things in life. In Christ’s name, I pray. Amen!

Carrying Others Burdens!

We need to ask the Lord to fill our hearts with His love and compassion, and to help us to do more than speak of love, but to all allow His love to multiply in our lives and touch others. And to ask Him to forgive us for turning the other way, and neglecting to share the mercy, and love we have so freely been given, but instead to a make a difference in someone’s life today. Have a wonderful day making a difference in someone’s live.

“Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ.” ~Galatians 6:2
Image

Genuine love comes from God. We don’t have the ability to show the level of compassion, love, and mercy of God to the world, unless we receive it from Him; the kind of love that will reach out to the lost, feed and clothe the poor, and understand and show compassion, to those who are hurting physically and emotionally. There are millions who are lonely and feel ostracized from society, all because of a lack of love and understanding, and through Christ, we have the ability to make a difference. We are ambassadors for Christ, and His hands extended towards the hurting, outcasts, sick, and oppressed of the world. When we simply talk of love, it is easily and quickly forgotten. When love is demonstrated, it makes an everlasting impression.

Fill our hearts Lord, with your love and compassion. Help us to do more than speak of love, but allow Your love to multiply in our lives and touch others. Forgive us for turning the other way, and neglecting to share the mercy, and love we have so freely been given. Make a difference in someone’s life through us today. Amen.

Don’t be anxious about anything!

The Word of God is still very applicable to our lives today just as it was then. As you see the Apostle Paul wrote do not be anxious about anything but to bring them to God in prayer. Another words friends it doesn’t matter how big or how small it is take it to the Lord in prayer. Our Heavenly Father wants to be taken into all the secrets and longings and desires of our heart. He wants no desire hidden from Him, but every desire turned into a prayer.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” ~Philippians 4:6

In some people’s life something little may come up and they may say hey it’s nothing big so who cares. The truth of the matter is God does care. The scripture says to cast our cares upon Him for He cares for us( 1 Peter 5:7 ). It doesn’t specify the type or when, it just says to cast them upon Him for He cares. Remember we serve the very author of love for God is love( 1 John 4:8 ). Instead they try and handle the situation thinking hey its small I can handle it. Before long the small problem grows and then they are crying out to God saying why God why. They are asking the right question of course they are usually asking Him why is happening to them instead of why didn’t I seek you first. God will never get mad if we come to Him about little issues. Remember God desires a deep intimate relationship with you. He desires those who seek Him. Friends when you make your requests known to God, ask believing He will answer your prayers( Matthew 21:22 ). In addition you notice it says with thanksgiving. This means thankful. So when we bring these request to God not only should be all things to Him, but we should thank Him. Thank Him, knowing that He has answered your prayer. Remember God knows our deepest need. Despite how things may seem at the time God has everything in control. Friends I encourage you as you walk with God to tell Him about your day. Let Him know about all that troubles, big and small. Believe me He loves you( John 3:16 ) and He will meet your every need, just seek Him first( Matthew 6:33 ). Take the time to get to know the Master. Get deep in His Word and grow in Him. Don’t conform yourself to this world, but instead identify yourself with the standard, Jesus Christ.

Have a wonderful day in His presence and God bless you.

This is my prayer

Dear Lord, I thank you for this day. I thank You for my being able to see and to hear this morning. I’m blessed because You are a forgiving God and an understanding God. You have done so much for me and You keep on blessing me. Forgive me this day for everything I have done, said or thought that was not pleasing to you. I ask now for Your forgiveness.

Please keep me safe from all danger and harm. Help me to start this day with a new attitude and plenty of gratitude. Let me make the best of each and every day to clear my mind so that I can hear from You.

Please broaden my mind that I can accept all things.

Let me not whine and whimper over things I have no control over. Let me continue to see sin through God’s eyes and acknowledge it as evil. And when I sin, let me repent, and confess with my mouth my wrongdoing, and receive the forgiveness of God.

And when this world closes in on me, let me remember Jesus’ example — to slip away and find a quiet place to pray. It’s the best response when I’m pushed beyond my limits. I know that when I can’t pray, You listen to my heart. Continue to use me to do Your will.

Continue to bless me that I may be a blessing to others. Keep me strong that I may help the weak. Keep me uplifted that I may have words of encouragement for others. I pray for those who are lost and can’t find their way. I pray for those who are misjudged and misunderstood. I pray for those who don’t know You intimately. I pray for those who will delete this without sharing it with others. I pray for those who don’t believe. But I thank you that I believe.

I believe that God changes people and God changes things. I pray for all my sisters and brothers. For each and every family member in their households. I pray for peace, love and joy in their homes that they are out of debt and all their needs are met.

I pray that every eye that reads this knows there is no problem, circumstance, or situation greater than God. Every battle is in Your hands for You to fight. I pray that these words be received into the hearts of every eye that sees them and every mouth that confesses them willingly..

This is my prayer.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
