The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly. ~ Proverbs 20:27 (KJV)
Whether you realize it or not, Holy Spirit leads you. As this verse today says, you can often sense Holy Spirit’s leading in your belly—like a gut feeling. When I have a decision to make, I begin to set out in the direction I feel Holy Spirit is leading me to take. I think about it and determine the best route and I keep moving in that direction as long as I have peace about it. If I don’t feel a sense of peace, I know something is not right. Have you ever experienced a forbidding feeling like a knot your stomach? Just think about a time when you knew what you wanted to do was wrong, but you did it anyway. That’s the feeling I’m talking about.
Other times, Holy Spirit leads me by drawing my attention to someone. I might notice someone in particular in a store, so I pray, Okay Holy Spirit, what would you like me to do here? If you want me to talk to this person help set that up for me.
Sometimes I pray for them and move on without any interaction. Other times I find a way to strike up a conversation. It doesn’t always go anywhere, and I definitely don’t always feel the need to close the deal having them pray to accept Jesus. Sometimes I’m just being kind or planting a seed because they’re not ready for anything more.
You see, being led by Holy Spirit is meant to be a very normal, natural part of everyday life. To grow in this ability, just stay open and cautiously test things out when you think you’ve heard from Him.
