“O Lord, open my eyes that I might see!” 2 Kings 6:17
In my quiet time I was led to mediate on this passage and share it with you. Sometimes we see the circumstances playing out all around us. They tell us that things are going to get worse, they remind us of all the bad things that can happen, and they coax us to having a fearful heart. Yet, in these moments, we need to learn to pray Elisha’s prayer for ourselves “Lord, open my eyes that I might see!” We should want to see our situation the way God sees it to see our circumstances in the presence of God’s promises to us. We should want to see the possibilities instead of the limitations, to see that those who are with us are more than those who are against us. We can only see this way because of the Spirit of God.
When God opens our eyes to see, we experience His peace that passes all understanding. We discern that He is using these events to grow our faith. We recognize that God is greater than our circumstances. It’s up to us to ask God for greater vision to experience the greater dimensions of faith.
