If you are struggling to be who God has made you to be, you need to realize your true identity as a follower of Christ. He has made you new, so stop getting angry with yourself for not being who you want to be. That only gets you farther out of faith. Instead of thinking that you are not what you need to be, get up every morning and say, “I am a child in God’s family, and I am destined to do awesome things for Him.”
But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. ~ John 1:12
One day a man found a newborn lion cub orphaned on the African savannah. He felt sorry for the little cub, so he brought it home and added it to his poodle’s litter.
As the lion grew, he thought he was a poodle. When the man disciplined his dogs, he would roll up a newspaper and give them a slap on the behind. At full-grown size, the lion still cowered at the sight of the newspaper, even though he could take the man out with one swat.
One day the lion was walking through the yard when he heard the sound of a full-grown African lion roaring in the wild. His hair stood up on the back of his neck as the sound of that lion called to who he really was inside. He wasn’t a poodle; He was a lion who only thought he was a poodle. Would this lion need to pray, “Oh God, please change me into a lion”? Would he need to pray for lion’s claws, teeth or speed? No, he is already a lion. He just needs to believe it, right? He needs to realize his true identity.
